POE 2 next patch: bring two highly sought after improvements

The release of Path of Exile 2’s 0.2.0 update sparked significant backlash from the community. The patch introduced a wave of nerfs across various classes and abilities, while simultaneously buffing monster health, making the late-game content feel noticeably slower. The intended goal was to increase challenge, but many players felt it dulled the fast-paced, rewarding gameplay that defines the ARPG experience.

In response, Grinding Gear Games (GGG) acknowledged the feedback, releasing a statement defending some of their choices while conceding that certain changes had unintended negative consequences. Since then, the studio has been rolling out additional updates to address the concerns, including 0.2.0f, which brought adjustments to ascendancy classes, charms, the crafting system, and endgame content.

Looking ahead, GGG has teased what’s coming next in patch 0.2.0g. According to a recent Steam post, the update will focus on two of the most requested improvements, along with a suite of smaller balance and quality-of-life changes.

1. Improved Loot Drops

One of the main frustrations among players has been underwhelming loot—especially from boss encounters. To address this, GGG plans to “raise the floor” of loot quality, ensuring more consistent rewards. This means that boss drops will meet a new minimum standard, making disappointing runs less common. Additionally, monsters possessed by Azmerian wisps will also drop higher-quality gear, making them more rewarding to hunt.

2. Easier Access to Corrupted Nexuses

The second major change focuses on corrupted nexuses, rare endgame locations filled with powerful corrupted enemies and unique bosses. These areas can be tough to find and often lag behind a player’s waystone progression. To resolve this, patch 0.2.0g will increase the spawn rate of corrupted nexuses and reduce the number needed to complete for unlocking all Atlas passive points. This tweak aims to better balance progression and reduce grind.

More Changes on the Horizon

GGG says these aren’t the only changes coming in the next update. More tweaks and improvements are in the pipeline, with deployment expected “in the next couple of weeks.” While a precise release date hasn’t been set—due to the Easter holidays and a public holiday in New Zealand—the studio promises to roll out the patch “as soon as we can.”

Overall, these improvements aim to restore some of the game’s lost momentum and better align with what players love about Path of Exile—fast-paced combat, rewarding loot, and deep endgame progression.
