Path of Exile 2 Will Finally Let Players Respec Their Ascendancy Classes
Grinding Gear Games continues responding to player feedback following the Dawn of the Hunt update for Path of Exile 2. The massive 0.2.0 patch has been met with mixed reactions from the community — many players felt it ramped up the grind and difficulty a bit too aggressively. The developers are now working to strike a better balance, starting with recent improvements in patch 0.2.0e and continuing with even more impactful changes planned for next week.
Among the most highly requested updates coming soon? The long-awaited ability to respec your Ascendancy Class.
Recent Fixes in 0.2.0e
The latest patch tackled several pain points, including:
-
Rebalancing difficulty in Act 3
-
Adjusting overall player power and scaling
-
Smoothing out rough edges introduced by Dawn of the Hunt
But Grinding Gear isn’t stopping there — next week’s patch promises one of the most player-friendly updates yet.
Ascendancy Respecs Are Coming
As Path of Exile 2 introduces new Ascendancy Classes, many players want to try out fresh builds without starting completely from scratch. Until now, changing your Ascendancy has required starting a brand-new character. That’s about to change.
Here’s how Ascendancy respecs will work in next week’s update:
How to Respec Ascendancy Classes
-
Players will now be able to respec their Ascendancy Class by redoing an Ascendancy Trial.
-
The Trial must grant the same number of Ascendancy points that your character currently has allocated.
-
You’ll need to reset all Ascendancy points (down to zero) before selecting a new class.
-
Once that’s done, head to Balbala or the Trialmaster (next to the Ascension device) to open the new Respec window.
Updated Level Requirements
-
7-chamber Ultimatums (up to 4 Ascendancy points) are now available starting at level 55, down from 60.
-
10-chamber Ultimatums (up to 6 Ascendancy points) can now be tackled from level 65, down from 75.
This update strikes a middle ground: giving players freedom to experiment without making it too easy to switch back and forth on a whim.
What Else Is Coming Next Week?
Alongside the Ascendancy respec system, Grinding Gear Games plans to roll out additional changes in response to ongoing feedback:
-
Endgame content adjustments
-
Crafting system improvements
-
Totem mechanic updates
These fixes aim to smooth out some of the more frustrating parts of the 0.2.0 patch and improve the overall gameplay loop.
The new patch is scheduled for mid-week next week, though no exact release date has been confirmed yet. That means players will need to wait out one more weekend with their current builds before the respec feature drops.
While Path of Exile 2 is still in early access and evolving rapidly, the upcoming Ascendancy respec option is a game-changer — especially for players eager to test different builds without replaying early content. Stay tuned for the mid-week patch and more quality-of-life improvements as GGG continues fine-tuning the ARPG sequel.
