Path of Exile 2 Is Powering Up the Sorceress and Other Classes in Major Update
Grinding Gear Games is gearing up to deliver a powerful round of buffs to several classes in Path of Exile 2, including the fan-favorite Sorceress. The sequel to the hit ARPG launched in late 2024 and quickly built a loyal player base, with its deep customization, loot-heavy gameplay, and grim, atmospheric world winning praise from fans and critics alike. Now, the developers are making changes to enhance the experience further—particularly for those who felt the game’s balance was off after the last update.
The new update, revealed on the official Path of Exile website, introduces sweeping improvements across multiple classes—Sorceress, Huntress, Warrior, and Ranger among them. Aimed at improving balance and addressing community feedback, the update also includes the addition of a new support gem, crafting changes, and tweaks to monster difficulty and game mechanics.
Big Buffs for the Sorceress
The Sorceress, a top pick for players favoring spellcasting and elemental damage, is receiving a host of buffs to increase her power and utility. Key changes include:
-
Frostbolt: Explosion radius increased by 50%.
-
Arc: Now causes lightning explosions on shocked enemies, though it can no longer apply shock.
-
Eye of Winter: Gains elemental damage bonuses when passing through other elemental orbs.
-
Incinerate and Frost Bomb: Exposure durations extended significantly.
-
Mana Tempest: Now compatible with all spells, splitting empowered spells to extra targets.
-
Ice Nova: Improved freeze buildup.
-
Mana Remnants: Now applies to all elemental ailments, not just shock.
-
Ignite Spread Delay: Reduced from 2 seconds to 1, with a slightly smaller radius.
Class-Wide Buffs and Adjustments
Huntress
-
Parried enemies can’t evade her attacks.
-
Rapid Assault: Guaranteed bleed and increased AoE on detonation.
-
Spearfield: Duration extended to 10 seconds; damage significantly scaled up.
-
Herald of Blood: No longer removes corpses from rare/unique enemies, making them usable for Ritual Sacrifice.
Warrior
-
Temper Weapon: Now faster and more powerful, adding 3 empowerments per hit.
-
Shield Wall: Now detonate-able with Warcries.
-
Monster-applied Armour Break now lasts only 4 seconds (down from 12) and no longer does unintended bonus damage.
Ranger
-
Stormcaller Arrow: Spreads shock to nearby enemies and boasts 50% more AoE.
-
Lightning Rod: Damage boosted by 30%, with duration increased to 20 seconds.
-
Lightning Arrow: Arc radius increased by 50%.
-
Tornado Shot: Maximum duration raised to 15 seconds.
New Support Gem: Inhibitor
The new Inhibitor support gem prevents charge consumption but increases the supported skill’s damage by 4% per charge type you have. This offers exciting potential for charge-heavy builds looking for extra firepower without sacrificing charge utility.
Gameplay Improvements and System Tweaks
Bleed and Chaos Immunity
-
Energy Shield no longer blocks bleed but Chaos Inoculation now fully prevents it.
-
Passive clusters that enhance stun thresholds based on Energy Shield now also boost ailment thresholds—offering greater protection from ignite, chill, freeze, and shock.
Crafting Enhancements
-
Artificer’s Orbs added to fixed campaign locations for more frequent use.
-
New attribute runes introduced to fix early-game item requirements.
-
Rune functionality expanded to include wands and staves, with plans to eventually include Soul Cores and Talismans.
Delirium Encounters
-
Delirium events now last 2.5x longer, offering more reward and challenge for skilled players.
Endgame Rares
-
Rare enemies will now always appear on the minimap, preventing frustrating moments where players miss one in unexplored corners.
Matlan Waterways
-
Water sections merged to reduce average lever count by six, streamlining the area’s layout.
Monster Swarming Issue
-
Player complaints about being overwhelmed by fast-moving monsters are being addressed. The devs are working on specific nerfs to monster speed and difficulty, especially in fast-paced zones.
After receiving criticism over nerfs introduced in the Dawn of the Hunt update, Grinding Gear Games has listened. These new buffs, class reworks, and quality-of-life improvements show the team’s commitment to keeping Path of Exile 2 fun, balanced, and deeply engaging. With each class getting meaningful attention—and with more updates likely on the way—players can look forward to a more refined and powerful experience ahead.
